Magnetic Seizure Therapy (MST)
The magnetic seizure therapy is very similar to the electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). The only difference is that strong magnetic fields provoke the generalized seizure instead of electrical stimulation. Patients are narcotized during the seizure and muscles are relaxed by medication. Magnetic seizure therapy can provoke better focussed seizures so that the adverse event of cognitive impairment accures less often.
